Kehlstein

Eagle's Nest

Another hike and walk through history.... Preserved through WWII.

Martin Bormann presented this building to Adolf Hitler for his 50th birthday. Hitler used it as a retreat and a place to host foreign dignitaries.

How was it possible to get the roads, the tunnel, the 124m lift shaft up plus the buiding completed in 13 months? Here are some photos of the construction process.

The 40m long tunnel to the lift...

The original red italian marble fire place ..

We would have gotten amazing views but it was a cloudy day, so here's a photo of a postcard at the souvenir shop.

And here's our version of the "view".

It's cloudy and one would be oblivious of any UV but just look at daves transition lens!
